Could $100 Oil Trigger a New Global Inflation Shock?

The U.S.-Iran conflict is once again rattling the global economy. Renewed U.S. strikes and escalating threats around Iran have pushed Brent crude close to $100 a barrel, while traffic through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz has fallen sharply. That matters far beyond the Middle East: prolonged disruption could mean higher fuel costs, renewed inflation, and more pressure on central banks around the world.

At the same time, markets are already trying to figure out whether this is a temporary geopolitical shockโ€”or the beginning of a much longer energy crisis.
